About Me
Teaching
While I am currently working towards my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at CSU Long Beach, music has always been my greatest passion. When I took on my first student at 11 years old I deepened that love and appreciation. In my time teaching I have worked with every kind of student from elementary school to retirement and those with disabilities, using a mix of patience, creativity, and flexibility to help each student thrive.
Experience and Training
I attended the Orange County School of the Arts, studying in both the Guitar and Popular Music conservatories. There, I competed as a classical guitarist, studied music theory, gained experience playing in bands, and developed a passion for the bass guitar. In college I continued my studies with modern virtuoso Felix Pastorius, deepening my understanding of jazz and music theory, while going on to play and record music all over California.
My Teaching Philosophy
The most important parts of learning music are playing with others and simply enjoying it. My approach with each lesson is to identify music that inspires my students, and flip between the roles of instructor and jam partner as we learn it. Additionally, as a student of Physical Therapy I understand and actively implement foundational principles of motor learning and control to help my students efficiently overcome technical challenges on their instrument.
